AIM: The increasing use of diodo Laser in frenulum surgery made this intervention easier for the clinician and more acceptable by the patient. Diodo Laser permits to solve pathological frenulum from a functional poin of view, without complications and with the maximum benefit. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The diodo laser is the gold standard for frenulum surgical therapy thanks to its cutting, coagulating, analgesic,antiseptic and biostimulating properties. It is used in continuous mode with 300 m fiber 1,5W which is related to patients tissue biotype. The operative protocol can be performedwith reduced quantity of anesthetic, sometimes topically. RESULTS: The diodo laser allows not only the detachment of the superficial fibers but also the deepper ones, eliminating the possibility of recurrence. CONCLUSIONS: diodo laser should be considered the elite choice for the treatment of ankyloglossia encouraging the restoration of physiological swallowing and phonation and for the labial frenulum.
